Kyrgyzstan Extends Ban on Export of Ferrous Metal Scrap for Another Six Months

Time:2026-03-19

On February 18, 2026, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan adopted a resolution extending for another six months the temporary ban on the export of ferrous metal scrap and fragments. This measure applies to all materials falling under HS code 7204 of the EAEU TN VED, including scrap, fragments, and ferrous metal ingots intended for remelting. This measure builds on the policy initially introduced in September 2025, with the aim of stabilizing the domestic market. By restricting exports outside the Eurasian Economic Union, the government seeks to secure critical raw materials for local metallurgical plants and meet domestic demand for secondary scrap. The extension ensures that domestic enterprises have access to high-quality supplies necessary for production.
