Pakistan’s scrap steel imports in May increased by 19.6% month-on-month. According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the country imported 239,758 tonnes of scrap steel in May, up 19.6% from the previous month but down 25.3% year-on-year. The import value totaled US$135.63 million, up 16.2% month-on-month and down 11.2% year-on-year. During the same period, Pakistan’s steel imports amounted to 233,954 tonnes, down 33.3% year-on-year and 29.0% month-on-month. The corresponding import value was US$144.95 million, a year-on-year decline of 35.9% and a month-on-month drop of 28.6%.

According to data released by Pakistan’s Federal Bureau of Statistics, in May this year, Pakistan imported 239,758 tonnes of scrap steel, up 19.6% month-on-month but down 25.3% year-on-year. The value of these imports totaled US$135.63 million, up 16.2% month-on-month and down 11.2% year-on-year.

During the same period, Pakistan’s steel imports totaled 233,954 tonnes, down 33.3% year-on-year and 29.0% month-on-month. The value of steel imports for the month was US$144.95 million, a decrease of 35.9% year-on-year and 28.6% month-on-month.
