As of the week ending September 1, Russian hot-rolled coil and slab export prices declined further, weighed down by the ongoing disruption to Black Sea trade routes. FOB export prices for CIS‑origin hot‑rolled coil from the Black Sea stood at $500–$520 per tonne, down from last week’s range of $520–$533; FOB prices for CIS‑origin black‑sea slab were $475–$497 per tonne, compared with $482–$497 the previous week.

Sources indicate that shipments from the Black Sea are currently almost impossible, with many shipowners reluctant to take on cargoes; market dynamics will be closely monitored over the coming weeks. Industry observers note that following attacks on Black Sea port infrastructure and vessels, trade has virtually ground to a halt, logistics are severely disrupted, freight rates have surged, war-risk insurance premiums remain sky-high, and vessel availability is scarce. A Baltic Sea detour remains under consideration; while similar arrangements have already been implemented for other bulk commodities, negotiations for semi-finished products and flat‑rolled steel are still ongoing. Export prices for hot‑rolled coil are being quoted at $500–$520 per ton FOB, with slab prices indicated at $475–$497 per ton FOB and offers hovering around $490–$510 per ton; export prices for cold‑rolled coil and wire rod remain unchanged.
